During the winter months, anglers float the upper river in drift boats searching for winter steelhead. Spring brings seasonal runs of perch and herring to the bay, and makes fishing from a dock or a boat fun for the whole family.
In down years, the annual king catch is closer to 1,000. I used to fish the Nestucca, Kilchis and Drift Creek on the Siletz system but as life got busy with family obligations, work etc., In the meantime, all fishing seasons remain open.
Not sure though. It runs about fifty-five miles before flowing into Alesa Bay on the Pacific Ocean. (Except for salmon and steelhead fishing on the Columbia River.)
